I don't use any Bluetooth keyboard on my phone so this seems that all of this might be a case of the app just forgetting at times to reactivate the keyboard when it's needed. Sure wish I had kept a cache of the previous version.Update: it fails in a similar way on my iPhone - the keyboard just disappears and you have to k*** and restart the app to get it to reappear. Have tried deleting and re-installing the app from the store. Have to restart the program, more than once sometimes, to get it to work again. And then at the same time it won't even bring up the on-screen keyboard when I turn off Bluetooth. Mac mini late 2014 for saleKeeps saying I've already "purchased" it but the pack does not appear in my collection. It always takes at least two tries for the app to refresh with a new puzzle.Another example of how buggy this app is repeated efforts to download the 75th anniversary "gift" pack have failed. Took five tries one day earlier this week. Not yet, guys puzzle has crashed eight times today and still hasn't loaded on my iPad. Do your homework and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. One minute 26 seconds to complete the Saturday puzzle - I wish!Nice gesture to celebrate the Times puzzle anniversary with a gift collection of great puzzles but really, it's no gift if customers can't access them. However, I understand you are trying to get more people to buy them. I like having the recent puzzles scroll across the home screen.2) I care nothing for the puzzle packs and wish they were hidden behind a button to make the home screen less cluttered. Wish it were cleaner. My comments/requests/suggestions below still stand.1) The new version is easy to access. If the app crashes, which it has twice in only a few days, the puzzles are again all blank until I click on each one to make the previous work load.Home screen is incredibly cluttered. It doesn’t automatically load completed puzzles I have to click on a puzzle, and then the fill pops in and the puzzle shows as completed. Both times, it gave me the “congratulations” screen, but the next morning, my streak was reset to 1, and the puzzle from the previous day was completely blank. And to allow room for improvement.(1) MAJOR: Twice in the last few months, the app has failed to retain my streak correctly. The 4 is because I don’t feel that I was originally informed enough to avoid losing a coupla streaks. As it is, I can never see my just-earned Sunday time on the stats page, and I can't look back over the week as a whole.Better, still cautious star star star star star_borderHoary One's Review of New York Times Crossword Reviewed on 11/13/18 7:34 PMAfter posting the following, I figured how how to leave feedback from the app, so I fed back my concerns, below.I received a timely and helpful response, the upshot of which is, I need to make sure I have a good internet connection when I finish a puzzle, or soon thereafter before the deadline, to assure my streaks are properly recorded. So I’m posting this update and changing my rating from 1 to 4. Being backward makes it feel foreign and awkward, when a long-time user wants it to feel comfortable, but just spruced up a bit.4) Why do the stats take time to update once I've completed a puzzle? Seems like that should be immediate, so I can go to Stats and compare today's time right away.5) PLEASE have the stats reset on Sunday evening when the Monday puzzle is released. And since most all of my friends are far more brainy, with much better vocabularies, and they possess quicker mental acuity than I do, I have no doubt they’ll be subscribing to this app. While it’s important for each of us to exercise our bodies, it’s equally as important to exercise our brains. But when I purchased the subscription, I realized that I still have to pay for these bundles! WTH?! What a rip-off! It would help if they made it clear that all you’re buying is the puzzle that appears in their paper.□Now that the NYT Crossword Team has responded to my issue, and they’ve pointed me in the direction of hundreds of FREE Mini Puzzles, I am extremely happy with this app! It is SO much fun! I’ve alerted all my friends on FB to the enjoyment this app offers. So, I thought this would include these mini bundles in the price. I frequently go with my gut on difficult and obscure answers, sometimes finding them surprisingly correct, sometimes transforming entire puzzle quadrants from one set of answers to a largely different set. These are fun puzzles to experiment with, since the technology allows for rapid, easy letter replacement. The included archive alone looks to be enough to keep me occupied for several years to come, at least. Other collections of themed puzzles are available for nominal fees. I use the app each day and highly recommend it.
